But only three weeks later Brandon was brutally raped and beaten by two of his friends, who became enraged when they discovered that he was actually a woman. A week later the same two men murdered Brandon, along with a young mother and another man with whom he had sought refuge miles away. Filmmakers Susan Muska and Greta Olafsdottir show how the very indeterminacy of BrandonÕs identity became the trigger for transphobic and homophobic hate crimes. The Brandon Teena Story includes interviews with the principas figures in the murder case (including the convicted killers) as well as archival audio-visual footage and stark original images.
