Chris Vander Steppen (screenwriter of "Ma Vie en Rose") in his directorial debut brings us a lively yet bittersweet tale of familial misunderstandings. It's 1969 and Sacha returns home to Belgium in an attempt to finally come out to her family. She doesn't expect to be confronted with her mother's high expectations of her becoming a successful doctor which she can never live up to. Sacha struggles to find the right moment to talk tacheles with her mother. Meanwhile her eyes are opened to the lives of her family members and what they attempt to hide from one another. Both sweet and richly entertaining, Family Pack goes beyond the adage "You can't go home again", to remind us that though our families don't seem to understand us at all, we might be the ones after all that don't quite understand them.

This film is a textured reimaging of personal history where the seemingly irreconcilable past and present are bound up together. The images in the film work as a document of some of the ephemera of birth/life/death, and include an optically printed reenvisioning of the filmmakers parent's wedding film as well as the gravesite of their child, at a Jewish cemetry in Montreal. The film was loosely inspired by a short story written by Delmore Schwartz entitled "In Dreams Begin Responsibilities".

The filmmaker makes visible what many breast cancer survivors try to hide, a frank depiction of the sickness, the baldness, the fears, and the vulnerability. This is not to say that there is no light. Warmth radiates from Gerry's smile and the loving relationship she shares with her partner, Peggy Norman, who documents much of the film. As time passes, an intimate bond develops between the viewer and Gerry as we accompany her to radiation treatments and become confidant through many sleepless nights. Ultimately the film becomes a testament of a community's love and support, and affirms the power of individuals to reach out and affect each other's lives.

Matthias, driven by jealousy, tries to tie Nathalie to him and his work. Louise, enchanted by meeting Nathalie again, encourages her to accept the offer of another famous director. Nathalie follows her advice, the first step towards the end of her relationship with Matthias. However, when the work for the new piece begins she realizes that she needs support and asks Louise for help. Louise immediately answers her call and from then on accompanies her everywhere. Everything is moving in circles and repetition characterises both the daily work at the theater - the auditions - and the constant movement of back and forth in the relationship between the two women. Their friendship evolves into obsession. In the end their dangerous game takes its toll. Corsini's film combines the style and atmosphere of a thriller with the emotional intensity of a psychological drama.

Stray Dogs is a Southern gothic drama, set in 1958 against sweeping panoramic views of Appalachian mountain landscapes chronicling the last night of a turbulent marriage. The drama portrays the small town poverty stricken folk who live on a farm, and the October day when their repressed emotions run over fear and anger. A contemporary version of a classic Southern tale based on Julie Jenson's play of the same name about the highly disfunctional Carter family. The film stars Guinivere Turner (Go Fish, American Psycho) as Darla Carter, a willful yet devoted Southern wife. In addition to biting lyrical language Crouch incorporates humor admidst poverty, sexual tension, a dissatisfied wife and a story that takes place in one day. Crouch's credits include a recent award- winning collaboration with filmmaker Cheryl Dunye on 'Stranger Inside'.

When I was 16 years old, I had a confirmation service and remember being very moved spiritually, but did not understand why I was moved and I had no one to turn to and ask. At 60, I wanted to created a meaningful Jewish ceremony to honor my transition from my mid-life to my elder years. Walnut Tree, The

As a follow-up to Zyklon Portrait, The Walnut Tree offers a striking combination of documentary and experimental approaches in examing Holocaust memory, family and the role of Photography in history. Schogt's mother describes how her parents tore several pictures out of family albums when they fled the Nazis in 1943. The albums were kept safe in a warehouse in Amsterdam. Schogt's mother recounts how the walnut tree her parents planted was cut down during the war. After the war, her sister finds the tree with several new shoots - now a huge tree that bears quantities and qualities of delicious fresh walnuts every year.

Sharon, a single mother, lives in a harsh reality. She has problems both on the romantic field, with her jealous girlfriend, while also being exploited in the restaurant she works at, by her controlling boss who doesn't get along with Yoni, Sharon's 7-year-old son, who spends most of his time hanging around his mother. As a way out, Sharon comforts herself by watching her neighbor (Michal), who lives across the street, and also starts taking pictures of her. Michal, who is unaware of Sharon, is a dependant woman, currently in a crisis and needs someone to talk to. One magical night, fate brings these two women together, the curiosity and the instant attraction between the two leads them to an emotional adventure, bringing them both to an understanding and finding the strength toward essential change in their lives.

Surrealistically set in the 1950's in a small town called Eden - which is everything but - this film tells the tale of young Wilma's romantic escapades with Christine, a woman from the 'outside' world. Wilma has to choose whether to redeem herself in the eyes of her religiously obsessed brother James, her neurotic chain-smoking mother, and her opprobrious father, or escape Eden, a place where the air is haunted by silence and oppression, and where no one can ever feel clean enough.
